I remember being underwhelmed watching Dune as a teenager when it came out and it's even worse today. Hard to believe but it's 7 years older than Star Wars and about 70 years behind in effects.
I thought I might enjoy picking up on David Lynch's Direction of the movie but to be honest he's totally out of his depth. The acting sucks and the props are often comical.
The books though are very trippy.
You certainly are not alone in your view. Interestingly, though, the film is more popular, ie. less hated by those familiar with the series. For people without the background, they can't even begin.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I think you mean *Star Wars* is 7 years older. You probably know this also, too, but Lucas offered Lynch Return of the Jedi, which he graciously turned down.
